With our partners and suppliers, we at WINI pursue the long-term goal of using as many sustainable - ideally even completely recyclable - materials as possible in our furniture production.
For example, we use sustainable natural products such as cork, upholstery fabrics made from collected plastic waste (SEEQUAL initiative) or 100% recycled post-consumer plastic, as well as components made from post-industrial plastic. WINI relies on paper-based solutions for packaging, regional sourcing and AI-supported packing and route optimization for logistics.
One of WINI's sustainability initiatives is SARA (Chipboard Made from 100% Recycled Waste Wood) - a board whose production no longer uses newly felled wood. SARA therefore anticipates the mandatory EU regulation on deforestation-free supply chains for all companies from mid-2025.
The problem: In Europe alone, around 6 million barrels of waste wood end up in landfills every year, releasing sequestered carbon when thermally recycled. The SARA solution: producing new Chipboard from used wood to reduce deforestation and at the same time reuse and recycle waste wood.
A win for climate protection: For SARA, waste wood (classified according to the European Waste Catalogue) such as old furniture, pallets, construction timber, etc.) is chipped and processed into new, high-quality furniture boards. Adhering materials are separated by type in the reprocessing process and sent for recycling. SARA is produced Without the use of newly felled wood. No forest has to be cleared for SARA, no habitat for Flora and fauna is destroyed and existing resources are used more efficiently. That's hundreds of thousands of trees a year that don't have to be felled. Thanks to the circular economy, the carbon remains bound in the waste wood and our forests can absorb more CO2 for longer.
SARA does not differ in appearance or properties from conventional Chipboard. It complies with the E05 standard and is PEFC and FSC-certified. The board is vegan (binding without glue based on animal substances) and less water is used in its production than with conventional Chipboard.
SARA can be used for all WINI table tops and carcass furniture. The board is available in WINI board thicknesses and four standard colors. With the entire WINI decor color spectrum, it can be designed on request.
